This enigmatic city game will take you on a tour of the city’s Singel canal as well as some lesser known gems. In addition, you get to learn about Utrechts history while solving a unique local mystery!

Arnout, a 16th-century guild worker, mysteriously ends up in front of the city mall, on the site where castle Vredeborch once stood. He wants to return to his own time, when the canal was an important defence for the city. Can you find the key that will take him back to 1554?
The route runs partly along the Utrecht Singel, but also winds through the streets of Utrecht’s city centre. You pass beautiful hidden courtyards, the bastions on the Singel, and end up at the atmospheric Ledig Erf. There you can reminisce about your escape on one of the welcoming terraces.
At the start of this Outside Escape, you can choose between the basic version and the challenging version. The challenging version is meant for players who already have some experience with escape games. Not sure which one to choose? After a few riddles, you can switch difficulty levels once.
Recommended for ages 14 and up. Younger children who enjoy a challenge can also participate under supervision!
This Outside Escape takes approximately 2 hours, excluding breaks. The route is approximately 2.5 kilometres long.
As soon as we receive confirmation of your booking, you'll receive an email with a login link and access code. With these, you can start your Outside Escape whenever you choose! No reservations are needed. All you need is a charged smartphone with a mobile data plan.

An Outside Escape lasts around 2 hours, unless you choose to enjoy a drink somewhere in the sun, of course! Each route is approximately 2,5 kilometres long.

Outside Escapes are suitable for families with children aged 14 and up. But there is plenty to do for younger children, as they can help solve riddles by looking around for hints! In addition, each escape contains 5 or 6 photos of locations to keep an eye out for. So even the smallest participants can participate in a fun photo hunt!
An Outside Escape is suitable for 2 to 80 people. If you are with a larger group, we recommend playing with teams of around 5 people. This way, every team member gets a chance to actively participate and it stays fun for everyone. But you are free to form larger teams, of course!
